Bikram designed this class to be very accessible for beginners, so with a little practice and experience, you'll quickly feel like a pro and on your way to better health. Bikram's Yoga is for everyone that is willing to go.

Come take your first class, and then take class as often as you possibly can and you will quickly lose weight, get in shape, and feel absolutely wonderful.

To Prepare

Drink plenty of water throughout the day so that you're well hydrated before coming to class. It is better for you and your yoga practice to drink water before and after class and not during.  Do not eat at least two hours before class.

First Lesson

Arrive 15 – 20 minutes early for your first class. This allows you ample time for registration.

What To Wear/What NOT To Wear

Wear clothes you will be comfortable sweating in.  It is warm. Women wear shorts or yoga pants and a sport top. Men wear workout shorts or swim trunks.  Do not take class wearing nothing but your underwear, it is inappropriate.  When in doubt ask and we will advise you what to wear.  We sell a wide selection of yoga clothes for men and women in our yoga boutique.

What to Bring

You will need a yoga mat and a towel large enough to cover the mat (both are free of charge for your first class). We also sell mats and towels. Bring an extra towel if you wish to shower at the studio after class.

During Class

Feel free to go into the yoga room before class and just enjoy lying, or sitting there and breathing in the warm air. Your yoga teacher will tell you what to do, all you need to do is listen and try. For the first few classes you can always look at the people around you (this is why it’s best to stand in the back for the first class). Listening to the instructions keeps you focused on what you are doing.

While taking class you might feel challenged; physically, mentally or emotionally. It is ok to sit down and wait out a few postures. It's temporary, as you focus on slowing your breathing down these sensations will disappear.  We strongly advise you to stay in the yoga room for the duration of the class.  If you feel unwell notify the teacher and they can help you.

After Class

The last posture is savasana.  It is your well-deserved rest, just relax for a few minutes before you leave the yoga room. Drink plenty of water or enjoy a juice or a coco water and take short rinse after class and you’ll feel great.

Take your second class within 24 hours if possible. If you are able to do this you will bypass much of the soreness you might experience otherwise.
